These brownies are the closest I will get to making halloween themed desserts this year. I feel like chocolate stuffed with peanut butter is Halloween-esque. They give off the Reece's peanut butter cup vibe. The peanut butter layer is salty which brings out the sweetness and chocolate from the brownie. This is one of those life changing, mouth-watering recipes.
TOTAL TIME: 1 hour
SERVINGS: 9 large brownies or 16 regular sized brownies
INGREDIENTS:
Brownie:
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup melted chocolate chips
1/2 cup/1 stick butter (melted)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup yogurt
2 tablespoons milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar
Pinch of salt
Peanut butter filling:
1 cup creamy natural peanut butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
About 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
1 teaspoon salt
RECIPE:
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8''x8'' metal baking pan with parchment paper.
Peanut butter filling: Make the peanut butter filling by combining the filling ingredients together in a bowl. It should be thick, but if it is too thick, add up to 2 more tablespoons of milk or heavy cream. Once fully mixed, set aside.
Brownie batter: Whisk together the butter, yogurt, sugar, milk, and melted chocolate chips until everything is well combined and there are no lumps. Then add in the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
Assembly: Pour half of the batter in the pan. Then evenly spread the peanut butter mixture over the brownie batter. Pour the rest of the batter on top of the peanut butter layer. Bake for 35-45 minutes at 350°F. Let the brownies cool completely before slicing them.
